United made a welcome return to the Oval after nearly a month, 7th November to be exact, when they beat Marlow 4-1, this time third placed Chesham were the visitors.

Bedworth started the game kicking towards the baths end, but it was the visitors who looked the most likely to open the scoring with chances falling to Leon Archer (twice) and Sam Ledger in the first fifteen minutes.

For Aston Villa on loan goal keeper Dave Bevan, this was to be his last United home game, and but for his agility the Chessmen could have been at least two goals to the better before the deadlock was finally broken on the stroke of half time.

In a poor first half the away keeper Richard Hayward was merely a spectator as a rugged Chesham defence dealt with everything that the Greenbacks could muster whilst his opposite number was by far the busier.

Bevan was finally beaten by a fortuitous Archer lob from twenty yards, the ball was played to him from the right by Dom Marsalla, upon spotting Bevan off his line Archers lob appeared to going over the cross bar but suddenly dipped over the keeper, to give the visitors a well deserved half time lead.

Half Time 0 - 1

Three minutes into the second half and United levelled through Gilbert Cummins , a move set up between Cummins and Sam Shilton saw the youngster finish the move with a fine header which beat Haywood.

Ten minutes later saw Bevan making a wonder save from Archer when a goal looked to be on the cards.

Fifteen minutes from time, Cummins grabbed his and his sides second goal of the game a Jamie Petty free kick was played out to Jamie Lenton who helped the ball onto the incoming Cummins to place the ball past Haywood.

As the game drew to its conclusion United held on tightly to their slender lead and deny their visitors at least a draw which was the least that they deserved.

Full Time 2 - 1
