This 4-0 thrashing to the Worcestershire side was just what was needed to boost the clubs morale before meeting the big boys from the conference York City next week.

United were still looking for their first win of the season, now that manager Liam O`Neil has bought into the squad Jerome Murdock from Coventry Sphinx, this could just be the turning point that he has been so desperately looking for.

Already this season Murdoch has been a thorn in the side for Stourport having scored three times previously in two games during the Coventry sides excellent FA cup run, and on his debut for the greenbacks his goal scoring feat continued.

United kicked attacking the baths end , and during the opening period looked by far the better side despite their lowly league position and if it were not for the visitors keeper Paul Evans, united might have been a goal or two for the better inside the first quarter of the game, as it was the hosts took the lead after 17 minutes after Murdock beat two defenders and rounded past Evans to slot the ball home giving united a well deserved lead.

From this moment the game turned into a dour affair up to the half time whistle with just one worth while shot coming from the Swifts Chris Cornes which beat keeper David Bevan and just flew inches wide of the Bedworth goal.

Half Time 1 - 0

The second half was delayed due to a change of official following a recurring injury to Ilkeston referee John Thornhill, assistant referee David Hunt (Mansfield) took charge for the remaining 45 minutes.

On the hour United doubled the score line thanks to an own goal by Will Gayton, Murdock again being in the thick of things weaved a bit of magic on the right hand side and his centre to Jason Moore deflected of Gayton and past the flat footed Evans.

Ten minutes later the greenbacks went further ahead, a good move between Paddy Connelly and Matty Blair resulted in centre back Dene Wittal Williams handling in the goal area leaving sub referee Hunt no choice but to give a penalty which Moore duly converted, a minute later Murdock was on target yet again as he rounded past Andrew Jones and planted the ball past Evans to make it a brace for himself and four for his new team mates in a memorable debut.

Stourport could only muster the odd attack in final part of the encounter , but this win lifts united up to fourth from bottom in the league, but more importantly a very much need boost ahead of the big game in Yorkshire next week.
