United gained their first win since December 1st last year and
what a well earned win it was.
The boys from Staffordshire will want to forget this game as soon as possible
and get back to their videos and watch re-plays of this seasons FA Cup exploits,
although the Greenbacks won by the slender margin of one nil it could have been
a lot more , but for some fine goal keeping from former Bedworth player Lee
Evans .
Manager Liam O`Neil paraded his two latest signings to the large crowd , Paddy
Connoly from Stratford Town and Rugby Town loanee Akim Aladetown .
United started the game attacking the Pool end , but in the opening period their
visitors had the better of chances with with ex Greenback player Scott Clamp
heading wide from a Dean Craven cross on fifteen minutes. Ex Scholar player Paul
Spacey sent a good pass through to Adam Kinder whose shot forced Evans into
making a great finger tip save on twenty five minutes, to deny his former club
from taking the lead. Evans was again called into action , just after the half
hour mark again denying Kinder.
The second half belonged to men in green, although Chasetown found the net in
the first minute but Danny Smith was adjudged to have been off side and five
minutes later Aladatown was denied a goal scoring chance by Lucan Spittle
United broke the deadlock on sixty four minutes when Jamie Williams jigged his
way through the Scholars defence and found Aladatown via a Joe Williams
deflection to grab his first goal for his new club
.
Williams had a good chance to double the scoreline but his shot flew over the
crossbar on seventy seven minutes from about sixteen yards out . Ten
minutes from time the visitors should have equalised after Ben Steane put
through Nick Hawkins but his wayward shot went over the United`s cross bar.

"That has just been waiting to happen it all boils down to the fact that we had
a full side out, with a striker to compliment what Kinder has been doing for the
last few games, that's the best we have done since i have been in charge".
